A carbon pre-filter is your first line of defense against the particles floating around in your home. This is the first roadblock particles face when flowing through an air purifier. Our activated carbon pre-filters are designed to be extra thick for extra absorption, allowing them to last longer and pull more toxic particles and odors from the air. The carbon atom is perfect for capturing airborne particles because of its four unbonded free attachment points and large surface area. Say goodbye to cooking odors and other foul smells that can linger for hours on end. In addition to capturing odors and foul smells, a carbon filter stops large airborne particles from gumming up your expensive HEPA filters, increasing their lifespan immensely. Pet Hair, Dander, Dust, Pollen, and other large airborne particles are no match for a properly positioned carbon prefilter.
Breathe Naturally carbon filters are made here in the USA by our expert team of carbon professionals ensuring every filter you buy passes our quality controls standards. Our carbon filters can be cut exactly to fit your air purifier unit, or you can cut them down to size yourself for whatever project you're working on.
With normal use, we recommend changing carbon filters every 1-2 months, or when you start to notice your air purifier isn't removing those pesky odors from the air. People who put more “stress” on the air, have multiple pets, or release a lot of odors into the air may need to change filters every 4-6 weeks. We don’t recommend reusing carbon filters. The studies show that washing them or vacuuming them, doesn’t actually clean your carbon and can actually do more harm than good. Once a set of carbon filters has captured enough odors, it becomes saturated and stops working properly. This is the best time to change your carbon filter and can be pretty easily identified by lingering odors or sometimes a change in the noise pitch your air purifier gives off, which might sound like it's having a harder time moving air through your air purifier unit. Saturated carbon filters can be disposed of quickly and easily in the garbage.
